Upgrade your airport experience with 25% off
Airportr
Two current offers can help ease the tedium of flying during the busy Christmas period. Firstly, if you have not tried Airportr, now could be the time to try it. I have used it several times and love the idea of it. The only thing to be aware of is that there are rare circumstances out of its control, such as being selected for the special screening for the US, which can mean you can’t use the service, so it is best to have a backup plan in mind!
Airportr will pick up your checked luggage from your home, hotel, or office and take it to the airport for you. You won’t need to check it in, collect it the other end. This can be great if you have lots of luggage and want to get public transport or want to make the most of your day without having to leave your luggage somewhere.
You can also use the service on arrival to have your bags delivered to your hotel. Prices start from £34 for collection.
There’s a 25% off code: SOPP2525XMAS valid until 31 December 2025. If that doesn’t work, you also get 15% off for signing up for their emails.
You can find their website here.
Aether Private terminal
If you are flying from Manchester and fancy upgrading your experience, there is also an Aether lounge discount of 20%. You can read about Aether longe in this article. Essentially, it is like flying from a completely private terminal, so it is a great way to escape the crowds.
There’s 20% off Inclusive Cabin Bag & Checked Products on travel until 31 March 2026. You need to book by 26 December 2025. If the discount does not apply automatically, enter discount code AETHERGIFT20 at the checkout.
You can find the Aether offer page here.
New Gordon Ramsay Plane Food Market launches at T5
Now that many people are likely to lose status next year with the BA Club changes, it’s the perfect time to relaunch Plane Food at Heathrow’s T5. Before I got BA Gold status, I frequently went there instead of a lounge, as it was less crowded and had a better selection of drinks. Yes, you have to pay, but at least you have whatever you want!
I would have rather it remained a more upmarket venue as it was before, but you can still sit and eat in the restaurant. The seating areas still look like an elegant restaurant but the4 concept has changed somewhat. Plane Food is now more of a food market concept as you order from screens. The good news is there is more choice with favourites from the Ramsay empire, such as Asian-inspired dishes from Ramsay’s Lucky Cat brand, such as spicy tuna rolls, duck bao, and pork gyoza, as well as noodles. Then there is Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips, Street Burger with smash burgers and chicken burgers. Street Pizza serves slices with a range of toppings, and Hotter Than Hell Wings has wings suitable for all levels of spice fans.

The market also serve standard mains such as minute steak and salads. Prices are still high for a non-full service restaurant with a Caesar salad costing £15 or £23.50 if you add chicken. If you were a fan of the breakfast dishes, they are still serving a decent range with eggs Benedict and avocado toast amongst the options.

The idea is that your order will be ready in 10 minutes, and you can take away or eat in. There is also a lovely bar area for a cocktail. It is also still possible to book a table in advance.

JetBlue opens its own lounge at New York JFK
People often forget JetBlue is available on Avios redemptions through Qatar’s Privilege club, which you can transfer Avios into from your BA account. You can also earn Avios on JetBlue in the same way.
I loved flying JetBlue a couple of years ago to New York, but the one downside was a lack of a lounge at their JFK Terminal. If there was a paid lounge, I would not have minded, but there was not when I flew, and quiet areas to sit and eat or drink were hard to find. On board, they have a great business class product with good seats and fantastic service from the crew. The food was something different too.
This week, JetBlue will open its first-ever own-brand lounge, and more are due to follow. BlueHouse, the airline’s first-ever airport lounge, will officially open its doors at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Terminal 5 at 5 a.m. on 18 December 2025.

“We wanted customers to feel like they’re stepping into a warm and stylish New York City apartment filled with character, where layers of JetBlue history and New York iconography can be discovered with every visit,” said Stephanie Evans Greene, senior vice president, marketing and brand, JetBlue. “Just as New Yorkers bring their own personality into a new space, we infused the space with JetBlue’s signature style to feel homey and comfortable when staying in our House.”
Prepared daily by Union Square Events, BlueHouse offers guests fresh grab-and-go bites inspired by New York’s food scene, like bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches with New York cheddar in the morning, and pastrami on rye or chicken Caesar wraps later in the day.
For drinks, there are draft and local beers, signature cocktails, and artisan wines curated by NYC hotspots The Greats of Craft and Please Don’t Tell, and some of NYC’s top sommeliers. Barista-made espresso drinks come courtesy of Joe Coffee, founded in Greenwich Village, alongside specialty chai and matcha from Brooklyn’s Dona, and teas from Steven Smith Teamaker. Customers can also request travel-friendly amenities to make their journey more comfortable.
To pass the time, there is a game room stocked with JetBlue-branded cards, chess, checkers, and children’s toys. Customers can also take home a photo memento from a custom photo booth.

Access to JetBlue’s lounges will be reserved primarily for Mosaic members, transatlantic Mint (business class) customers and JetBlue Premier Cardmembers to ensure a comfortable experience that avoids the overcrowding and long lines.

There are more improvements planned for JetBlue in 2026 as the airline continues a multi-year refresh of Terminal 5, bringing more than 40 new retailers and amenities. There will also be a new domestic first (business) class cabin that will roll out during 2026. JetBlue will expand BlueHouse with its next location set to open at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) Terminal C in 2026.
