The advantages of a British Airways Holiday
Booking a British Airways Holiday has several advantages over booking a flight only.
- You only need to pay a small deposit when you book until 4-7 weeks before departure. This lessens your risk if, for some reason, you could not go. The balance is due four weeks before departure for short haul bookings and seven weeks before departure for all other holiday bookings except some European ski holidays. Your booking will show when it’s due.
- You earn extra Avios on top of the usual flight Avios. You earn 1 Avios for every £1 that you spend on your booking.
- There is a promotion to get double Tier Points on BA Holidays of 5 nights or more before 31 December 2024. You can find the details of this offer here.
- You can part-pay with Avios booked on ba.com. See this page for details.
Here are examples of the deposit that you will need to pay:
- Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays between £300-£999: Just pay £120 deposit per booking
- Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays between £1,000-£2,999: Just pay from £150 deposit per booking
- Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays between £3,000-£3,499: Just pay from £200 deposit per booking
- Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays over £3,500: Your deposit amount will be displayed during the booking process
British Airways also recently introduced the option to use Avios to part pay for BA Holidays.

When trying to book flight and 1 night hotel in the BA holiday offer, there doesn’t seem to be an option to pay a deposit – it’s asking for the full amount. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? 🙂 Thanks in advance!
It depends where you are trying to start from. Not all countries offer it.
