Summer 2024 availability

You may not think it, but Christmas and New Year are the busiest times for BA reward seat planning and booking. It would seem the frosty weather gets to us all, and we jump to make plans to escape the cold. With that in mind, if you’re starting to look for your summer 2024 holiday, you may want to start a little earlier, to get ahead of other Avios collectors.

Using the Reward Flight Finder year-long Search Calendar, here’s some of the best summer 2024 BA reward seat availability to book with those hard-earned Avios points:

Short haul

London – Cagliari, Sardinia

Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari, is a gorgeous, buzzing historical city set on the seashore. It’s popular with couples looking for a little romance, and groups seeking a getaway with lots to add to the itinerary. Reward seat availability throughout June to September is excellent at the moment, with most days having up to 6 Economy seats and 4 in Business Class.

London – Heraklion, Crete

Crete is the picture perfect family summer holiday, with beautiful beaches and a whole host of things to see and do, no matter your age. Heraklion, in particular, is a vibrant region with a rich history and culture. Reward seat availability is strong in both June and August, although it’s a little patchy in July. There’s a lot of dates with up to 6 Economy seats to book, as well as 3 or 4 Business Class.

London – Malta

The Blue Lagoon on Comino Island, Malta Gozov.

Malta may be compact, but it still packs a punch with holidaymakers. Think 5,000 year old temples, magical lagoons and 16th century architecture. Not to mention its laid-back vibe. Travellers of all ages are charmed by Malta’s mediterranean vibes. Right now, BA reward seat availability is great throughout June to September. Lots of dates have 4 Economy seats to book, or 2 Business Class.

London – Turkey

Rixos Gocek Mulga, Turkey
Rixos Gocek Mulga, Turkey

According to a great deal of travel publications, as well as RFF search data, Turkey is a trending destination for 2024. It’s a good all-rounder, an attractive destination for families and solo travellers alike. Reward seats for all Turkey airports (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, and Istanbul) are getting booked up pretty quickly for June, July and August 2024, however, there’s still a large amount of Economy and Business Class seats available due to BA’s strong flight schedule.

Long haul

London – Bangalore

Reward Flight Finder - Bangalore

Busy, busy, busy. That’s the best way to describe Bangalore. This cosmopolitan Indian city strikes a great balance of colonial history to explore, and contemporary comforts, including luxurious spas and fine dining. Take your pick from modern art galleries, bustling traditional markets and elaborate temples. Right now, seat availability is excellent in all classes between June and September. BA offers flights every day from London, and you can find lots of dates with 6 seats in Premium Economy, as well as 3 or 4 in Business Class.

London – Bermuda

Bermuda with its pink sand beaches
Bermuda with its pink sand beaches

A taste of paradise, with pink sandy beaches, stunning reefs, lush trials and island vibes, Bermuda is a popular reward seat destination year round. Seats are particularly hard to come by during the summer months when travellers young and old(er!) flock to enjoy some serious rest and relaxation. I absolutely loved my visit a couple of months ago and would love top go back. You can read more about my stay here.

Thankfully, due to BA’s frequent flight schedule in peak months, reward seat availability is excellent during June, July and August. There are loads of dates with 2 Premium Economy, 2 Business Class, and even 2 First Class seats to book. This is definitely a destination that gets booked up quickly though, so act fast!

London – Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Aerial view of beautiful white sandy beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Like Bermuda, reward seats to the Dominican Republic can be hard to come by. It’s an incredibly popular holiday hotspot, and it doesn’t have the busiest flight schedule, so Avios travellers can often miss out on seats. The island has over 50 miles of lush white beaches, an abundance of watersports and luxurious resorts. It’s an iconic fly and flop destination. Reward seat availability is currently (surprisingly) good for June and August. There are a number of dates with 2 Premium Economy and 4 Business Class seats. In July, things are a bit barren, but there are still a couple of dates with 2 Premium Economy and 2 Business Class seats to book. This won’t be the case for long though, so get booking!

London – Washington DC

The US Capitol in Washington D.C.

If your idea of the perfect summer holiday means monuments, memorials and museums, at a destination steeped in history, then Washington DC is right up your alley. At the moment, reward seat availability throughout June, July and August is brilliant in every cabin class – including First Class. There’s an abundance of dates with 6 Economy, 4 Premium Economy, 6 Business Class and 3 First Class seats to book with Avios.
