Travelzoo – Wimbledon Finals weekend 2018

You may not have heard of Travelzoo as it is not as well known as Groupon outside the US. Travelzoo is a bit like Groupon crossed with Secret Escapes and Last Minute.  You can read more in this article.

If you have been trying to get tickets for Wimbledon and failed, their offer may be of interest.

The £165 pp package gets you a No.1 Court seat during Wimbledon finals weekend, an overnight stay in a hotel and transfers to and from the venue.

Included

  • Overnight stay on Friday, 14 July at the Holiday Inn Express Hemel Hempstead or Ibis London Heathrow. If you fancy something a bit nicer you can pay £200 per person for the 4* Hyatt Place London Heathrow or Park Inn Heathrow with continental breakfast for 2 people sharing a room
  • A full day at Wimbledon with a reserved seat on No.1 Court on Saturday, 15 July (seats will be the best view available at the time of purchase)
  • Return coach transfers between the hotel and Wimbledon

If you book for one person only, a supplement of £35 applies.

Hyatt Place Heathrow

The Hyatt Place is a modern style hotel that opened in 2016. Whilst neither hotel would be my choice for a weekend break it does secure your seats for Wimbledon. Finals weekend seats exchange hands for £1000+ if you are unable to get one through the official channels such as the Lawn Tennis Association or Ballot. The other thing to consider is the travel time to and from the grounds which is 35-50 minutes not allowing for the extra traffic that Wimbledon brings.

You can find more details of the offer here.

By the final weekend all the big matches are on centre court. No 1 will be a mix of boy/girl matches or veterans. Fine if that is what you want to see.

    • Yes it is not like you are seeing the actual finals but I think if you have never been and want to experience a day at Wimbledon during Finals weekend it’s a cheap way to do it.

  2. Little bit misleading. If you are interested in tennis ? I am sure you would rather watch the final on Tv rather then a couple of guys on no1 court who are well past their sell by date,

    • I guess it depends on your personal preference. For some people, they would be happy just to get the chance to go and say they have sat on No 1 court during Wimbledon. If it was one of the top matches obviously they wouldn’t be able to do it for this price. I totally get that a lot of people wouldn’t want to miss the final to see a lesser match.
