Taking a Christmas market city break is one of the most magical ways to get into the festive spirit, beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, music, and the smell of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts in the air. Then there’s the taste of authentic regional specialties, and handcrafted, local gifts. It’s a great way to get away. Here’s some of the best reward seat availability to get you there with Avios, courtesy of Reward Flight Finder:

Short Haul

London Heathrow – Budapest, Hungary

budapest

Budapest’s markets have made international lists (including from CNN) as among the best worldwide. You’ll find loads of availability in Economy and Business Class in November 2025 and there’s still some patches in both cabins across December too.

London City, Heathrow – Berlin, Germany

Berlin hosts some of the best and most diverse in Europe — hosting over 70 markets each year. Availability is excellent in November and December – with lots of days with 6 seats in each cabin.

London Heathrow – Vienna, Austria

The Christmas market in front of the Rathaus (City hall) of Vienna

A city choc-a-bloc with imperial-era architecture, full of charm and festive layering. There’s strong availability across November in Economy and Business, and still patches at the back end of December too. You’ll see a good selection of seats in each cabin – with days having 4 Economy and 4 Business.

London City, Heathrow – Prague, Czech Republic

Expect glowing lights, roasted chestnuts, classical music, and stalls brimming with handcrafted gifts. There’s some excellent availability in both cabins in November, with lots of days having 6 Economy seats and 6 Business Class to book with Avios. There’s also availability in the last couple of weeks of December for a pre- New Year break.

London Heathrow – Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen

The city hosts an iconic market in Tivoli Gardens. Availability is solid in November and December, with days having 6 seats in each cabin to book.

Long Haul

London Gatwick, Heathrow – New York, US

New York

The top dog of Christmas – it’s HUGE in NYC. If you’re in a position to book asap and travel soon you’ll see a nice spot of Premium Economy availability in November, with days having 6 seats. There are also Business and First Class seats up for grabs, with days having 5 or 6 seats in Business and 2 in First. If you’re looking at December your best option is a Business Class redemption.

London Heathrow – Tokyo, Japan

It might not be an obvious choice but here you’ll find German-inspired markets with Japanese precision and design flair. There are days with 4 Premium Economy seats in November and 6 in December. There’s Business Class availability in December, with a number of days having 6 seats to book with Avios.

London Heathrow – Chicago, US

With its German inspired downtown markets, there’s a great mix of winter tradition and cosmopolitan skyline bars and restaurants. You’ll see Premium Economy availability from the end of November and December, with days having 6 seats. Business Class is up for grabs at the same time, with quite a lot of days having 6 seats to book with Avios. If you can travel in November you can snap up First Class seats, with days having 4 seats.

London Heathrow – Toronto, Canada

The markets have over 100 artisan stalls selling gifts, crafts, décor, and clothing, set in a Victorian-era cobblestone district, giving it a magical old-world feel. There’s loads of Premium Economy and Business Class availability across November and December, with a great selection of days having 4 seats in each cabin.
