Whether you’re after a toasty trip to a beach destination or a sunny city break, here’s some of the best winter availability right now…

Short-haul

London – Morocco

Main square of Marrakesh in old Medina. Morocco.

You’ll find average temperatures of 20 here in the winter months. For a city break packed with markets, rich history, and mouth-watering food, take a trip to Marrakech.  If it’s a beach holiday you’re after, head to Agadir on the Atlantic coast. There are plenty of dates every week between November 2024 and March 2025 with 6 Economy seats and 6 Business Class seats to book.

You can read our guide to Marrakesh here.

London – Lanzarote

With winter temperatures of 25, this beautiful island in the Canaries is home to sandy beaches, family-friendly hotels and activities, as well as lively nightlife, so there’s something for everyone. You’ll find great availability in November, January and the beginning of February – lots of days have 4 Economy seats and 4 Business Class seats.

London – Egypt

The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan and the Pyramids in the background, Cairo, Egypt.

Sharm el Sheikh makes for a fabulous winter break, where you can make the most of quad biking, water sports and lazing on the beach. Alternatively, fly out to Cairo to see the famous Pyramids. You can expect plenty of warm weather, with average temperatures of 25.

If you’re looking to fly to Sharm el Sheikh, there’s some decent availability in November, with a few dates having 4 Economy seats. From there, January and February 2025 is your best bet – you’ll find more dates with up to 6 Economy seats to book. If you’re planning a flight to Cairo, availability is much better. Right from November to March 2025 there are lots of dates with 6 Economy and 6 Business Class seats.

London – Cyprus

Views of the sea on Cyprus

Although Cyprus isn’t drenched in sunshine during the winter months – think 18 degrees – it’s an ideal time of year to enjoy lots of sightseeing and cafe culture in Paphos and Larnaca. There’s an abundance of ancient architecture and districts steeped in Greek lore and legend. Head to the harbours to take pause and watch the world go by, whilst enjoying plates of freshly caught seafood.

BA reward seat availability is great right now, with lots of days between November and March 2025 having up to 6 seats available in Economy and 6 in Business.

Long – haul

London – Miami

Colony Hotel in Miamis Art Deco District

Hit Miami Beach, go wild at the shopping malls, and drive out to the Everglades National Park to immerse yourself in the local wildlife…there’s an abundance of ways to spend your winter break in Miami. It’s also great for a cruise to the Caribbean for a few nights. If you struggle to get Avios availability to your Caribbean destination, Miami has flights to most of the islands which are reasonably priced and fairly short. No doubt you’ll like the temperatures of 25 degrees in Miami too!

Premium Economy reward seats are plentiful between November and March 2025, there a lots of days with 6 up for grabs. Business Class seats are also good – you’ll find quite a few days with up to 6 seats in November, January and March 2025.

London – The Bahamas

Swimming pigs Exuma

The perfect fly and flop destination. Think relaxing on the lush sands, and snorkelling in the glass-like warm waters, all with temperatures of 28. The pace is slow and easy – ideal if you’ve had a hectic summer! You can read my review of the Atlantis Bahamas here or Grand Hyatt Nassau here.

There are currently many Premium Economy seats available in November, January, and February—up to 6 seats a day. If you’d prefer Business Class, there are still some dates in November with up to 3 seats, December with up to 3 seats, and February 2025 with up to 6 seats to book with Avios.

London – Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles
Los Angeles, California, USA early morning downtown cityscape.

A trip to LA, with its vast itinerary and jam-packed days, is actually ideal in the winter months. With temperatures of 22 degrees, you won’t spend your days walking around the city sweating buckets. The crowds are also smaller, making it much more enjoyable and laid back.

It’s also a great starting point for a driving trip up the stunning coastline or a if you want more of a sunshine holiday, Palm Springs is around 90 minutes drive away and warm all year round. You can read our guide here.

Palm Springs, California

At the moment, reward seat availability is top-notch between November and February 2025. If you’re happy to fly Premium Economy you’ll find loads of dates across the winter months with up to 6 seats. For Business Class, most days across winter are still showing between 4 and 6 seats to book. There’s even First Class availability in November and February 2025.

London – Mexico City

Built on the ruins of an Aztec city, Mexico City offers a winter break unlike any other. It’s full of Colonial architecture, iconic artwork and galleries that culture vultures will adore, as well as spicy cuisine and tequila – lots of tequila! You can expect temperatures of 22.

There are a few nice spots of Business Class availability at the beginning of December, with up to 4 seats to book. January and February 2025 also have patches of Business Class availability, with dates having up to 6 seats to book. And there are also some spots of First Class availability too – you’ll find a few dates with up to 3 seats.

There’s a huge restaurant scene here with every sort of cuisine you can think of. I loved all the outdoor terraces to. @british_airways has a fun new way to mix a martin @british_airways has a fun new way to mix a martini table side in their Concorde Room at Heathrow T5. Those flying in First class or holding Gold Guest List or Premier status can access the exclusive lounge. The machine precision weighs each ingredient in a special “Turbine” martini recipe from top class mixologist @mrlyan Although the recipe calls for Aviation Gin you can substitute it for another gin or vodka. The cleverly designed mixer then mixes it to precision. Inside it looks just like a jet engine. You can finish with a twist of lemon or olives.
