Amex new offers for travel & new Avios in store partners

Some new Amex travel offers have appeared both for both the Gold/Platinum and BA Amex cards. These are targeted offers so you may not get them all. However, you can often get Amex to add them to your card if you contact them. Here is a round-up of the existing and latest travel-related offers plus tips on how to get the most from some offers. If you haven’t used the offers before, go to the main page of your account and click on offers. Each offer must then be saved to your account before being used. The offers are individual to each card, so if you and your partner both have a card, you should be able to use each offer twice between you.

Gold and Platinum card offers

Hilton

3000 bonus Membership Reward points for spending £250 at Hilton. The offer is valid until 3 November 17 for the first 25,000 cardholders to register the offer to their card. The offer is restricted to participating hotels in UK and Europe. You can maximize this by booking your hotel through the Avios eStore where you can get 6 Avios per £1 spent apart from on US, Canada, Asia Pacific & South America where you get a bit less.

Trailfinders

Spend £1000 or more to get a £100 credit on your card.  The offer is valid until 30 September 17 for the first 8,000 cardholders to register the offer to their card. Trailfinders are a traditional travel agent chain who offer a great service with their dedicated First and Business Class service. They can even book ex EU fares as they did for reader Mrs C after I recommended some flights in this article.

Eurostar

Claridges, The  Connaught & The Berkeley

This is an excellent value offer of up to a third off. You will get £25 back when you spend of £75+ in a restaurant or bar at Claridge’s, The Connaught & The Berkeley by 31 October 17. It is valid once per Card for the first 15,000 Cardmembers to save. The Connaught has a great value weekday lunch for £55 per person at the 2* Michelin Star Helene Darroze which I reviewed here. It includes starter, main, dessert, a choice of 2 glasses of wine from the list, a bottle of water and tea or coffee. In my opinion, it is one of the best bargains for fine dining in London.

Thai Airways

Get a £100 statement credit on an eligible spend of £1,000+ online at Thai Airways by 4 November 2017. The offer is valid once per Card for the first 5,000 Cardmembers to save it. Thai Airways are upping their game with new business class seats and newer aircraft on the London route which I will be featuring shortly. They are often one of the cheapest options to Auckland from the UK other than the Chinese carriers, at around £2500 in business class.

Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Save the offer to your Card to get a £25 statement credit when you spend £150+, pay at hotel checkout and stay at participating hotels by 26 January 18. BA American Express offers

Avis UK

Save the offer to your Card to get a £20 statement credit when you spend £125+ at Avis UK. Book, rent and pay by 31 October 2017 at participating locations.

Melia Hotels

Get a £50 statement credit when you spend £200+, pay online or at checkout and stay at participating Melia hotels by 26 October 17. The offer is valid once for the first 10,000 Cardmembers to save. There is a small group of participating hotels including the ME London which I reviewed here, as well as ME Miami and quite a few in Europe.

New high street partners for Avios

Not everyone realises that you can get Avios on purchases in-store rather than just on-line. The choice of retailers has been fairly limited but Avios have plans to expland this further. Heals, Habitat, American Golf, Caffe Nero and Earnest Jones are the most well-known retailers. To collect Avios in store you will need to pay with a credit or debit card you have registered with Avios beforehand. Collecting the Avios is easy:

1. Register your card(s) at this page.
   Click the ‘Register Now’ button, and record your debit or credit card details. You only need to do it once.
2. Once you’ve registered, allow 24 hours before making your first purchase.
3. Spend at any Avios In Store retailer, using one of your registered cards.

Your Avios should show in your Avios eStore account as “Pending” within 7 working days and credit to your account within 35 days. You can obviously double dip by linking it to an Avios card such as the Lloyds or BA one.
