Perhaps due to the political instability in Qatar at the moment, Qatar Airways seem to have a permanent sale on. Generally the ex UK sales aren’t that great. However in the latest sale there are a couple of decent offers. Whilst they are nowhere near the prices we have seen on ex EU, from the UK they present good value. Given the current BA strikes, these may be a better bet than using a BA positioning flight in some cases.

Qatar Global sale
If you are willing to take the risk that tensions don’t escalate further, you can, of course, get BAEC tier points and Avios on Qatar. In fact, one return flight in business class to Asia on Qatar would almost get you to BAEC Silver with 560 tier points.

UK sale
There are no massive bargains in the UK sale but the prices are about as good as you would get out of the UK except with Finnair, Turkish or flying via China. It also means you can use the rather luxurious Qatar lounge if you are travelling from Heathrow. As they don’t have a separate First class lounge, the standard is above what you would normally get in a business class lounge. You can also now experience the new Qsuite to and from London on the QR 8/9. All this means that I view the prices as good value for money, with a low hassle factor.
Perth is a particularly good deal as this is normally an expensive route with flights normally starting at £2800 even with a sale on for a decent airline. It is worth looking at all the UK departure points, as prices can vary widely between them.
